After airing its series premiere on NBC last night, Monday, Dec. 30, there’s no doubt that you turned to Peacock to binge-watch the rest of The Day of the Jackal. Or maybe that’s how you’re planning on spending New Year’s Day.
Either way, you’re ready to see how the first season ends, and that usually means needing to know if there is more or not. Despite initially being billed as a limited series, The Day of the Jackal did ed up landing a second season. There is a lot of great news that comes with this, as well.

Eddie Redmayne will return for The Day of the Jackal season 2
Something that will be surprising to those who have read the book or watched the original 1973 movie is that Eddie Redmayne, who played the Jackal, will return for The Day of the Jackal season 2. If you didn’t see how the first season ended, you’d have expected Redmayne’s character, The Jackal, to die, right? So, you probably didn’t expect Redmayne to return even with a second season confirmed.
Things took an unexpected turn at the end of the first season. Rather than The Jackal being killed, another main character was killed. It leaves a lot open for the second season to happen. We’ll get into the spoilers in another post.
Deadline confirms that Redmayne will return, but there is no confirmation about anyone else. We do expect to see Úrsula Corberó return considering the way the end of the first season played out, as The Jackal is going to want to find his wife and son again. The end of the first season saw him recruit Zina to help him locate them.
There are also a lot of questions regarding The Jackal’s real identity. Even his own wife doesn’t know that, so who is this man, and will MI6 ever track him down?
The Day of the Jackal is available to stream on Peacock.
