The Lord Of The Rings fans have voted Helm’s Deep from The Two Towers as the best battle in the trilogy, closely followed by the Batte of Minas Tirith.

If there’s one thing The Lord Of The Rings franchise does best, it’s climatic battles. Two colossal armies going head-to-head backed up by a variety of mystical and magical creatures.

While there’s no shortage of these battles in cinema’s greatest trilogy, and to a lesser degree the prequel series The Hobbit, fans have decreed the best of them all comes from The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, the battle of Helm’s Deep.

This is the final battle of the second film in the trilogy, where the army of Rohan fought the forces of the wizard Saruman. Earlier in the film Saruman is revealed to be a traitor and has a battle with Gandalf, while the two armies clash outside. It’s got everything, atmospheric lighting, sword clashing, a bit of magic and even giant walking trees that emerge from the forest to lend a hand, or branch I suppose.

It’s also one of the most popular according to a Reddit poll started by GarouAPM. The user made a post asking fans to vote for the “BEST Battle in the Trilogy,” going on to explain the atmosphere of Helm’s Deep earnt it their vote, as well as the “infamous ghost army anti-climax.”

Many agreed with them, with the poll concluding with 282 votes for the Helm’s Deep showdown though that’s not to say it wasn’t close. Following behind was the battle of Batte of Minas Tirith and Pelennor Fields with 241 votes.

Of course some fans argued for other battles in the comments, but the statistics don’t lie, Helm’s Deep came out on top this time and for good reason.

That being said every battle in the franchise has its merits, so we’d encourage a rewatch of all the films to analyse each and every one of them, no other reason…
