I should hope the following statement is drilled into your mind by now; Fallout 5 isn’t set to launch any time soon.

Bethesda isn’t exactly a studio known for its speed, although that’s not wholly a bad thing.

After all, no one wants an undercooked game, but it does mean that we have to remain patient between the studio’s releases.

For many, Starfield simply didn’t satiate their appetite, so all eyes turn to The Elder Scrolls VI which remains several years away despite being revealed in 2018.

With full-scale production not set to commence on Fallout 5 until after The Elder Scroll VI’s launch, you can see why the game’s release is so far away.

In fact, so-called insider Jez Corden recently claimed (via Tech4Gamers) that Microsoft and Bethesda’s goal is simply to launch Fallout 5 this decade, which could see it land as far away as 2030 – and that’s if it hits its goal.

It’s a tough pill to swallow for Fallout fans, especially as this year’s Prime Video adaptation left us all craving a new game instalment.

They do say though that laughter is the best medicine, so Fallout fans have taken to roasting Bethesda’s penchant for lengthy development cycles.

“We might actually be playing this in an actual vault at that time at this rate,” wrote ivej.

“I hope I’m around by then,” read an ominous comment by CarelessTaco.

“Get ready for that next-gen 30fps experience,” said Spicy_Pickle_6, referring to Starfield’s much-criticised 30fps framerate lock.

This one from SoulMaekar made me chuckle: “So they are going to rush it out the door.”

I’d love to comfort you with the saying all good things come to those who wait, but after Starfield failed to dazzle, I’m not sure I can get away with that.
