In cased you’ve missed it The Day of the Jackal is the big new thriller based on the classic 1971 book by Frederick Forsyth. Focused on Eddie Redmayne’s character, it’s a nail-biting cat-and-mouse drama about an elite sniper and highly trained killer, and his quest to outrun Lashana Lynch. It’s must watch television, with Redmayne, who has proven over the years that he can take on just about any role, giving the likes of Daniel Craig’s sleuthey 007 a run for his money.

But high tempo drama and plenty of special looking firearms aside (it really is a gun lovers show, this one), we’re here to talk about the costumes, notably the accessories that the clothing department decided to dress Redmayne in. Because aside from heavy metal shooters, the programme is also actually a watch-spotters dream.

Throughout the first season Omega gets a starring role in the show, with Redmayne sporting three different timepieces as he travels the globe, outracing Lynch’s Bianca in proper style. On-screen there are three Omega styles seen on Redmayne.
First up there’s a Seamaster Railmaster (220.12.40.20.02.001), which takes the form of a 40 mm model crafted in stainless steel with a two-tone black textile strap. This is the most featured watch in the show and is worn by Redmayne’s Jackal when he is on task in the field.

Next up, The Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades (220.10.38.20.09.001), s38 mm model in stainless steel with a sandstone-coloured dial, can be seen on the Jackal when he’s with his wife. Perhaps the most impressive looking model is the Globemaster (130.53.39.21.02.001), which is 39 mm model in 18K Sedna Gold with a brown leather strap. The Jackal wears this watch when in disguise as a character called Thirsk.
Even if you don’t watch The Day of the Jackal for the plot, give it a go simply for the kettle game.
