With games costing more and more in recent years, Grand Theft Auto VI being one of the most anticipated titles of the past decade may reflect in its price.

Now according to one analyst, they believe that Take-Two may mark GTA VI with an unprecedented $100 price tag.

This news comes courtesy of Michael Patcher, the managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities.

In a recent discussion about Take-Two’s plans for distribution of GTA VI (via VideoGamesChronicle), Patcher had the following to say:

“We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point, and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online.”

This follows the news that GTA VI may be sold alongside its online component at launch, with the chance for some players to buy the base-game as a standalone title.

However, if you buy the “bundle”, Patcher believes that this will allow Rockstar and Take-Two to increase that price tag.

“There is precedent for integrating an online game experience with a premium game, as Activision did so with both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile content prior to the release of its annual Call of Duty premium installment,” he continued.

“In Activision’s case, the integration led to a 40% increase in sales of Call of Duty premium; in Take-Two’s case, we think a successful integration of GTA Online and GTA VI can lead to a $100 price point for the premium game.

Of course, this price (or any price) has not yet been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two but it would definitely make sense.

Nevertheless, at such a large price point, let us hope that this is merely an educated guess.
