God of War Ragnarök landed almost three years ago so fair to say, it shouldn’t be long until Santa Monica Studio unveils its next project.

Of course, plenty of us would love for a continuation of the God of War series, with DLC Valhalla seemingly teasing a number of mythologies that Kratos could explore next.

There are also rumours swirling that suggest that the studio is releasing a remaster of the series’ original Greek trilogy, due to be either announced or released to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary in March.

The truth is though that nothing has formally been confirmed, or at least it hadn’t until Santa Monica accidentally let the cat out of the bag.

While it remains to be seen if the remaster trilogy is real, it looks as if we do now know what the studio’s next major project will be, God of War 6.

Yes, Santa Monica has let slip via a job listing that God of War 6 is indeed in production.

This tidbit was spotted by TGP after PlayStation put out a job ad for a ‘senior technical narrative designer’ at Santa Monica.

The job listing stated that applying candidates had to have “knowledge of competitive products as well as a personal understanding of God of War games”.

I’m imagining you’ve put two and two together.

There’s no need to have an understanding of God of War specifically unless you’re, yes, working on God of War.

As such, it certainly appears as if the studio has just confirmed God of War 6.

Technically, this could be in reference to the rumoured remaster trilogy but if that’s supposedly due to drop next month, I’m dubious as to whether the project would require a narrative designer at this late stage, and for a remaster at that.

It’s unknown when Santa Monica will officially reveal the game.

Sony is certainly unveiling titles closer to their completion times, to avoid the four-year marketing cycles of yesteryear.

Ghost of Yōtei was announced in 2024 for a 2025 release.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced in December 2024 without a release date but I’m inclined to think that one’s probably 2026.

Could we see it joined by a God of War title, or is it simply too soon?

We’ll have to sit tight for now, but it appears that we’ll be reuniting with Kratos soon enough.
