Bit weird, considering they explicitly stated they were done with this AC game

According to a recent leak, we’re getting some new Assassin’s Creed DLC in the next few months, but it won’t be for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

It would seem that Ubisoft is keen to pump out some new Assassin’s Creed content… for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, apparently?

If that sounds odd to you, considering that Assassin’s Creed Mirage released in October 2023 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is about to land in a couple of months, you’re not the only one.

Perhaps the oddest part about all of this is that, prior to Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s launch, the game’s director Stephane Boudon confirmed that they had “no plan for DLC or extensive post-launch” content.

So, what’s changed? Why are Ubisoft suddenly interested in developing DLC for a 15-month-old game, while the new entry in the franchise is on the horizon?

Well, it sounds an awful lot like they’re doing it just to impress some new investors.

“But things changed in December when the boss of Ubisoft flew to Saudi Arabia. Yves Guillemot was, in fact, part of the official delegation – including around 50 business leaders – that followed Emmanuel Macron during his state visit to Riyadh,” writes Richaud.

“On this occasion, the CEO of the French company reportedly met with executives from the Savvy Games Group, owned by the sovereign wealth fund – the Public Investment Fund (PIF) – of Saudi Arabia. Discussions that ultimately led to an agreement for a DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage whose development would be financed, in large part, by Savvy Games Group, according to our information.”

So, yeah, it would appear Ubisoft just want to impress their new investors and is seemingly doing this at their whim.

Oh well, at least we get some new content out of it, I guess?
