As a way of apology for something that was 100% not their fault in any way, Bethesda is offering players a little Fallout freebie this week.

In case you missed it, last weekend the PlayStation Network went down for the the bulk of both Friday and Saturday.

Players across the world were suddenly unable to access any of the online functions on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and a bunch of folks were also unable to access the free games they’d usually have access to through PlayStation Plus.

To apologise, Sony is offering players a few free days of PlayStation Plus. Really, that was the least they could do.

However, Bethesda is also jumping in to give their players some free stuff too, because… well honestly I’m not sure why they’re bothering, but it’s nice that there are.

To help players make up for lost time, Bethesda has launched a “Double SCORE” event in Fallout 76 from February 13 to February 17.

This is also coinciding with a Double XP event to help players level up even faster, although said Double XP event was already planned before the PSN outage.

In case you’re new to Fallout 76 or you’re reading this article and never intend to actually play it (hey, you do you), “SCORE” refers to the points system players use to level up the current season and earn rewards.

Said SCORE rewards change every season, but they usually include stuff like Atom Credits (which can be used to redeem stuff in the paid store) or furniture/items for your camp.

Look, it’s not the most mindblowing reward but, it’s cool that Bethesda bothered in the first place personally.

You know, now that I think about it, Fallout 76 seems like a decent pick for a PlayStation Plus monthly game…
