“Had To Nerf It”: Oblivion Remastered Players Want Better Access To One Of Its Most Popular Locations

Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered. There are plenty of interesting places to visit in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. You can roam the wilds of Cyrodiil and explore goblin caves for loot. You can visit the Imperial City with its ivory tower and bustling marketplace. Head down to Leyawiin if you enjoy the seaside. Or you can hop into any number of Oblivion gates if the weather gets too nippy.

However, we can all agree that there’s one location that’s a clear favourite with every Hero of Kvatch. Frostcrag Spire looks over all of Cyrodiil and makes for a stunning sight with its rotating mechanisms. The fact that you can create spells and potions there, teleport to any of the major hubs, and even showcase all your fancy loot, makes it everybody’s favourite spot to call home in the game. However, there’s one major drawback – those damn stairs.

Frostcrag Spire Needs A Closer Fast-Travel Point

After looting a cave, closing an Oblivion gate, collecting Nirnroot, or whatever it is that the Hero of Kvatch does, you may feel like fast-travelling back to your tower for some R&R or restocking on potions. However, upon doing so, you’ll find yourself at the bottom the winding stairs that lead all the way up to the tower. Who wants to climb all those stairs after so much adventuring?

“Couldn’t you be dropped off a little closer to the Frostcrag Spire door?” asked False-Definition15 on Reddit, clearly tired of lugging it all the way up every time they visit Frostcrag Spire. For all its useful purposes, you’d think the game would let you spawn right outside the door, but that’s not the case.

“Frostcrag is OP. Had to nerf it with the stupid wiggle staircase,” said one comment. “Not to mention the deafening sound of the mechanical gears whenever you go into the house.” It seems that, despite all its benefits, Frostcrag Spire is in need of some renovations. However, some fans think these drawbacks are actually boons.

“It’s for leveling acrobatics, jumping up the mountain every time,” said one player who looks at the flask half full. “I maxed restoration and acrobatics by jumping off the tower/mountain while continuously healing,” said another. So, when life gives you stairs, level up acrobatics.
