With 2024 officially behind us, fans began to reflect on the state of the gaming industry last year. Between major successes and various disappointments, 2024 was a mixed bag for everyone involved.
EA’s major release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, appeared to fall in the latter camp, with player counts rapidly falling after release and fans voicing their dissatisfaction with the RPG. In the aftermath, the game has been voted 2024’s most disappointing release by a mile.
Why it matters: BioWare has been fighting an uphill battle over the last few years. Unfortunately, it seems the team has been unable to fully redeem itself.

Over on Neogaf, fans recently voted in a major poll, picking their most disappointing games from 2024.
Last year, titles like Concord, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Star Wars Outlaws ended up being major letdowns for multiple reasons. All three titles failed to impress in terms of both commercial performance and fan reception.
However, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has come out on top, leading the poll with nearly 40% of all votes. Star Wars Outlaws finished in second place with 26.4% of the votes, while Concord followed closely behind with 25% of the votes.
Elaborating on their pick, fans pointed to BioWare’s odd choices for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. They highlighted that the Disney-like dialogue and simplified combat system played a major role in the game’s downfall.
