Tyreek Hill has hinted at a potential exit from the Miami Dolphins as he “opens the door” to a trade, with four playoff-chasing NFL teams tipped as possible destinations.
Following the Dolphins’ 32-20 loss to the New York Jets in the regular season finale, Hill expressed disappointment and uncertainty about his future. A win over the Jets and a Denver Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs would have secured a playoff spot, but the Broncos’ 38-0 thrashing of the Chiefs and the Jets’ surprise win ended the Dolphins’ season prematurely.
After the game, Hill told reporters: “I don’t even know [what the future holds]. This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs. For me, I just have to do what’s best for me and my family if that’s here or wherever the case may be. I’m about to open up that door for myself… I’m out, bruh. It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for my career.”
The 30-year-old’s comments were compounded by allegations that he quit during the Jets game after the Broncos beat the Chiefs, with viewers citing a potentially recurring wrist injury. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed, however, that he wasn’t aware of any fresh injury issues.

McDaniel said: “I was informed that he was unavailable right before a drive. I was not informed that it was a new injury, and I think at that point of time my focus was on the players and I didn’t take the time to go and try and figure out more into that. There were guys on the field that were competing, and we were trying to win a game, so my focus was there.”
Footage circulated on social media later revealed that Dolphins team-mate Jaylen Waddle questioned Hill about his game status. In an exchange caught on FOX’s audio equipment, Waddle is heard asking: “Hey Cheetah, you done?”
Hill’s nickname, Cheetah, is well-known among the NFL, and many expressed their frustration over suggestions that the receiver might have quit mid-game – potentially signaling an end to his stint with the team. Here, we have explored Hill’s options, should he opt to leave Miami during the offseason.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys might be an ideal landing spot for Hill, should he seek a move to the NFC when the season wraps up. With Dak Prescott sealing a $240 million contract over four years, he becomes the NFL’s highest earner and secures his position until the 2028 season.
This substantial contract indicates that owner Jerry Jones is willing to invest in talent, and there’s some space in the wide receiver room. Ceedee Lamb is on a four-year deal worth $136m and could be the ideal partner for Hill on the Cowboys.
The NFC East team is also feeling the sting of missing the playoffs and trading for the Dolphins star could be the first step toward winning back the fans’ support.

The Raiders could also be a suitable destination for Hill, as they would easily be able to meet his guaranteed salary. If the wide receiver were to leave the Dolphins, the team that acquires him would have to fork out nearly $27m, according to SB Nation.
With the current second-most projected cap space in the NFL, the Raiders should have no problem accommodating Hill on their roster. In addition, Tom Brady recently became a minority owner of the Raiders, and he might encourage the team to sign someone like Hill to accompany their potential new quarterback.
With vacancies appearing on the Raiders’ roster due to free agency and the opportunity to select a new quarterback at the 2025 NFL Draft, Hill might be enticed to move to Las Vegas for the upcoming season.

Alternatively, Hill could return to his roots and rejoin the Chiefs for the 2025 season. This would be a challenging move, considering the Dolphins initially handed over five draft picks to secure Hill.
However, quarterback Patrick Mahomes already has a successful partnership with the Cheetah, having previously won a Super Bowl with him. Despite a 15-2 record, Mahomes’ individual performance this year has been less than stellar due to injuries to his star wide receivers during the regular season.
Rookie Xavier Worthy is another wide receiver on the Chiefs’ offensive roster that Hill could team up with, and the veteran athlete could provide the guidance needed for the younger stars to elevate their game.

The Chargers are another potential destination for Hill. Justin Herbert has been playing alongside some talented wide receivers for some time, including Keenan Allen.
However, the Chargers’ roster has a vacancy for an experienced player on the wings, with Quentin Johnston still only 23 years old and Lad McConkey with just one year of experience. The Chargers did make it to the playoffs this season, with Herbert throwing 23 touchdowns to three interceptions.
Despite being knocked out in the Wildcard round by the Houston Texans, the AFC West team may be searching for a seasoned star to propel them further into the offseason.
