Despite Rocksteady Studio’s most recent game being a flop, it seems as though the team has turned its attention back to one of its most iconic adaptations.

However, there seems to be a slight twist this time around.

There is no denying that 2024’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not perform as well as Rocksteady had hoped despite being a spin-off of its hit Batman: Arkham series.

Nevertheless, the studio is focusing on the future and that could mean going back to the caped crusader himself.

According to a job listing recently found on Warner Bros. career site, Rocksteady is on the hunt for a new game director and a report by Bloomberg hints that it may be for a brand-new Batman game.

The job listing states that the game director must have “strong design leadership and experience across multiple genres, particularly Third-Person Action, Melee Brawlers, and Open World Traversal games.”

Additionally, there is a second job listing but this one is for a production director which would hint at this mystery project still being in the very early stages.

It would make sense that Rocksteady is going back to its roots with a certified hit but the potential news has left some fans feeling a bit disheartened.

“Yeah we all know it’s a Batman game lol. I was hoping they would make a Superman or Flash game instead,” one user on Reddit admitted.

Quantun_Quokkas agreed, saying, “No but seriously I’d take Green Arrow or anyone really over another Batman game.”

For MahvelC, they seemingly summed up everybody’s thoughts.

“I am honestly just tired of Batman games,” they shared.

“We got four of them. WB has an entire universe of people to choose from.

Assuming this game comes out in 2029, Rocksteady has been working on Batman for 20+ years.

Suicide Squad being the only thing that’s different and it’s a live service game that died in less than a year.

I hope the studio can recover but I really don’t want them to just be the Batman studio the same way Santa Monica is the GOW studio.”

Rocksteady is yet to confirm that it is working on a Batman title but it would seem as though this is not what fans would want anyway.
