When Crimson Desert launched, fans were heartbroken to find that iconic creatures like bears and wolves were only “temporary tames.” You could ride them for a minute, but they’d eventually turn and bite the hand that fed them.

That era is over. With the release of Patch 1.01.00, Pearl Abyss has officially unlocked the “Permanent Taming” system for five legendary species. These mounts can now be registered at any Stable or summoned via the Mount Menu (H / D-Pad Up).

The “Big Five”: Meet Your New Best Friends

The patch adds two categories of permanent mounts: Legendary Animals found in the wild and Boss Mounts earned through combat.

The White Bear (Legendary): Found in the deepest caves of Pailune. This beast is a literal tank, absorbing 50% of incoming damage for the rider.

Silver Fang (Legendary Wolf): A massive dire wolf roaming the Silverwolf Mountains. It is the fastest ground mount in the game, featuring a “Shadow Dash” that makes you nearly invisible to enemies.

Snowwhite Deer (Legendary): The ultimate traversal mount for vertical terrain. Found near the Spire of Insight, it can jump twice as high as a standard horse.

Rock Tusk Warthog (Boss): A permanent version of the early-game mini-boss. Once defeated in the “Trial of Strength,” you receive a whistle to summon him. His “Gore Charge” can shatter enemy shield walls instantly.

Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex (Boss): The king of the snowy peaks. It features “Frost Hooves,” allowing it to run across frozen lakes and vertical ice walls without slipping.

The “Silly” NPC Fix

Perhaps the best part of the update is the change to social AI. Previously, riding a non-horse into a city caused mass panic.

The Update: “The people of Pywel are no longer afraid of tamed animals,” the patch notes dryly state. You can now park your 1,500-pound Polar Bear outside the Hernand Tavern without getting a bounty.

Why This Changes Everything

Beyond the “cool factor,” these mounts offer mechanical advantages that render standard horses obsolete for combat.

Mounted Combat: The Legendary Mounts have their own skill trees. The Silver Fang, for instance, can be upgraded to perform “Synchro-Attacks” where it bites an enemy while Kliff performs a Turning Slash.

Stamina Buff: These mounts have independent stamina bars that are 40% larger than legendary horses like Royler or Camora.

The Verdict: A Promise Kept

By adding these mounts for free just ten days after launch, Pearl Abyss has silenced the “misleading marketing” narrative. The game now feels like the “Beast Master” simulator we saw in the early trailers.

The stable is open, and the wilderness of Pywel is no longer just a hunting ground—it’s your private garage for the most dangerous rides in gaming.
