Did Slytherin price this DLC?

Hogwarts Legacy fans have quite rightly slammed the price of its most popular piece of DLC.

When Hogwarts Legacy was released in early 2023, despite later being snubbed at major ceremonies such as The Game Awards, Hogwarts Legacy was without question one of the most popular and beloved games of that year, reflected by the fact that it was the best-selling game of 2023.

Set in the late 1890s long before the Harry Potter movies, in Hogwarts Legacy you play a mysterious student who, to the surprise of many, is enrolled at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the fifth academic year.

Other than having an immersive story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, Hogwarts Legacy is a gorgeous-looking game whether you’re exploring the halls of the castle, shopping in Hogsmeade Village or venturing into the creepy Forbidden Forest.

There’s certainly a lot to love about Hogwarts Legacy including its once PlayStation exclusive DLC, the ‘Dark Arts Pack’. However, what’s not to love about this DLC is its RRP.

The ‘Dark Arts Pack’ has an RRP of £17.99/$19.99 and all it comes with is a Thestral Mount, a Dark Arts Cosmetic Set and the Dark Arts Battle Arena. That’s it, no story content whatsoever.

In my humble opinion, at full price, this DLC should cost no more than £10 at a stretch and by all accounts, Hogwarts Legacy fans on Reddit agree.

“The Dark Arts Pack is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced,” said an outraged Bubblebubbleitsme.

“It’s definitely overpriced, I got it for $5 on sale the other day and was happy but the normal $20 is too much,” replied PersonalityMajor4245.

“I purchased the DLC last night since it was 75% off. However, pricing that DLC for €20 is absurd,” exclaimed Bubblebubbleitsme. “The Thestral Mount feels glitchy, the Dark Arts Arena is strangely less exciting than the standard ones and the cosmetics are… ok?”

“It’s overpriced and gives practically nothing,” said PheexBlack. As you can imagine, that was the consensus of the thread.

So the morale of the story is, as much as you might love Hogwarts Legacy try to avoid paying full price for its DLC.
