Harry Potter fans stunned by new-gen remaster of PS1 classic

Hogwarts Legacy this, Hogwarts Legacy that, yet there’s a classic PlayStation 1 title that laid the foundations for that experience.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was released in 2001, designed as a way of playing through the events of the first book rather than just passively reading about them.

The end result was a mixed bag. Anyone who braved Quidditch practice will still be haunted by the words, “Concentrate, Potter, and try again.”

On r/harrypotter, one fan joked about being traumatised by that very moment. “Jesus, PTSD flashbacks!” they commented.

Not all the memories we have of it are fond ones, but regardless, seeing it remastered and brought back to life has us impressed all the same.

X user @GeForce_JacobF shared a glimpse at the new-gen remaster.

According to them, the revamped classic now has “support for Full Ray Tracing, DLSS 3.5 and more”.

To those of us who played this game despite the crushing moments of failure, it looks just how we remember.

What is more, it gives us a piece of our childhood back all these years later.

User @con_uk97 said, “I wish they would properly remaster them all.”

As unlikely as that is, at least fans are working hard behind the scenes to give us the remasters we’ve been waiting for. Heck, they also make ones nobody asked for.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 won’t be released for several years yet, and while a massive update has “revived” the first game, fans need another outlet to keep them entertained. This new-gen remaster could be exactly what they’re looking for.

Just be prepared to want to scream when flying your broom proves just as taxing as it did back in the day.
