The Elder Scrolls VI is one of those games that immediately divides opinion.

Having been announced in 2018, albeit in a teaser trailer, the fandom has been theorising about the title ever since.

Not only are they eager to learn more about its narrative, but The Elder Scrolls VI’s community want a better idea of when it’ll be released.

Its potential release window was teased a couple of years ago, however, we were too caught up in griping about the lack of information to pay much attention to it.

At this juncture, you may be wondering why a two-year-old piece of news is relevant.

Well, first and foremost, it gives us a rough estimate to work with rather than everyone winding themselves up with the lack of information coming from Bethesda.

We’ve all seen how much gamers can get inside their heads when starved of information – just look at the Rockstar fandom feverishly clinging to every bizarre GTA VI theory that comes their way.

According to the Shack News article cited, Phil Spencer said that the next Elder Scrolls title is at least five years away.

For those who didn’t miss this tidbit of information, they still believe that timeframe to be optimistic.

“Judging by how long Starfield took, five years is a generous timeline,” said pukem0n.

“I was a teen still when I got Skyrim. I’ll be in my mid-thirties playing the next follow up in the series. F**king unreal,” commented jrob_92.

We’re now two years into that five-year estimate, which would put the (rough) launch window of the next Elder Scrolls title at 2028.

That sounds like such a tediously long way away, but when there are huge RPGs soon to release in the meantime, many of us won’t be sulking for long.

It’s not The Elder Scrolls update we wanted, but it gives us something to look forward to.
