Elden Ring: Nightreign is a new game from FromSoftware, set to release in 2025. It’s a co-op action survival game where up to three players can team up. The game takes place in a parallel world to Elden Ring, introducing a fresh experience for players.
In Nightreign, we can expect to encounter some familiar foes from the Dark Souls series. Director Junya Ishizaki confirmed that a few enemies from Dark Souls will appear in the game. These enemies have wandered into Nightreign’s world due to the influence of the Night King. This crossover adds an exciting twist to the gameplay.
The game features a day and night cycle over three days. During the day, players explore the world, strengthen their characters, and gather equipment. As night falls, the map shrinks, and challenging bosses emerge. Surviving these nights leads to a final boss battle on the third night. Each session lasts about 40 minutes, offering a condensed yet rich RPG experience.
Players can choose from eight preset characters, each with unique abilities and backgrounds. This setup differs from the character creation in Elden Ring, providing a new approach to gameplay. Communication with teammates relies on pings and gestures, maintaining a “loose connection” style familiar to fans. Notably, there won’t be any PvP or invasion mechanics this time.
A network test for Elden Ring: Nightreign is planned for February, with registration starting on January 10th. This test will allow players to experience the game early and provide feedback. Additionally, Bandai Namco announced that Elden Ring has now sold more copies than the entire Dark Souls series had before its release, highlighting the game’s immense popularity.
Elden Ring: Nightreign aims to blend elements from both Elden Ring and Dark Souls, creating a unique adventure for players. With its cooperative gameplay, familiar enemies, and new mechanics, it promises to be an exciting addition to the FromSoftware lineup.
