Despite the success of Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar is yet to announce a potential sequel, which as you can imagine, is disappointing news for its dedicated fanbase.
There is no doubt that Red Dead Redemption 3 would be an instant hit and would see fans return to the series despite its six year hiatus.
However, with Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 cementing themselves as modern-day classics, it is easy to forget that the story did not start with John Marston back in 2010.
It started in 2004 with the release of Red Dead Revolver.
As the first entry in the Red Dead series, the Rockstar title took place in the 1880s during the American Frontier and follows bounty hunter Red Harlow on the quest for revenge after the murder of his parents.
Despite receiving mixed reviews at the time, Red Dead Revolver definitely has the nostalgia factor and fans of the more recent Red Dead entries have expressed an interest in returning to where it all began.
However, with the action-adventure game releasing back in 2004, it is pretty outdated by modern standards, especially as it was first released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Despite this, Youtuber TeaserPlay has given us a quick glimpse at what Red Dead Revolver could look like if it was created using Unreal Engine 5.
Posted to their Youtube channel, we can see a modern-day Red Harlow as he returns to the Frontier.
“Recreation of Red Dead Revolver, Nostalgia Game in Unreal Engine 5 with high-end graphics features such as Lumen, Nanite, Screen Space Ray Tracing and Global Illumination Shader,” the description reads.
“We hope that Rockstar will officially remake Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption soon and we really hope that this video will be able to clear the level of expectations of the fans for Rockstar Games.”
With incredible graphics and a nostalgic soundtrack, we can only hope that Rockstar will see this and be inspired.
