If you ever wanted to play as a badass artificial being in a post-apocalyptic world, then Stellar Blade is the game for you. The game is a blend of lightning-fast combat and breathtakingly intricate characters, featuring some of the greatest environmental designs ever seen in a video game.

If you have played Stellar Blade, you know how fun it is to just run up and enjoy the gameplay in a world filled with disgusting-looking monsters. But what makes the game even better are mods, and according to the director and producer of the title, mods make a game even better if done correctly. Let’s delve deeper into this and find out more.

Stellar Blade is an action-adventure video game developed by the South Korean video game publisher Shift Up. This third-person game was released back in April of 2024 and features a combat system that emphasizes learning the attack patterns of the enemies and countering them.

Honestly, if you stripped away the dazzling visuals and the delightfullyĀ exaggerated physics on our heroineĀ (you know the ones we’re talking about, right?), Stellar Blade would surely be getting the ā€˜Soulslike’ label from just about everyone.

While the game is very fun and enjoyable by itself, there are a handful of players who like to enhance that experience(ahem ahem), using mods. Hence, when the game wasĀ ported to PC just a few days ago, it sold more than one million copies in just three days, and it took modders only one day to introduce some spicy mods for the game.

Various mods and modders enveloped the game, and within a few days after release, almost everyone was playing Stellar Blade with mods enabled, but modding also led to some in-game problems.

During a recent interview withĀ Thisisgame, Stellar Blade’s Director and Producer, Kim Hyung-tae, was directly questioned about his stance on modders tampering with and utilizing his game’s data. He replied that there is no set policy for modders and as long as it’s not abused, he is fine with modders enhancing the experience. He also mentions how the mods are still lacking, and vanilla Stellar Blade is just better.

As long as it is not abused, I think mods also play a positive role in expanding the game play experience and scope. So I generally view it positively. However, there are cases where it is close to hacking or interferes with the normal operation of the game. Please be mindful of such cases when applying it. The firepower of the modders is still weak. It’s a bit lacking. Up until now, I think the official content is still better.

Kim Hyung-tae also mentions how the mods that he likes are the ones that slightly change the game, but he would also welcome if there were mods that expand theĀ user’s gameplay experience on itself.

The modding community makes the game even more of an unforgettable experience

While Stellar Blade is a wild ride on its own, mods just make the entire experience better in a more visually appealing way, and hearing the director being totally cool with it as long as they don’t break the game, just makes it even better.

Letting the entire modding community take apart your game and make it a better experience for the users is something very few developers agree on. Seeing Kim Hyung-tae acknowledging it with confidence this early on is like a nod of approval to those modders who give their heart and soul in making the game better.

Sure, the current batch of mods might still be finding their footing, but the potential in these mods is amazing. Whether it’s tweaking some gameplay mechanics or adding some really cool character outfits, the possibilities are only going to grow from here, and if the community keeps at it, Stellar Blade could evolve into something even more unforgettable.
