Itâs that time again when fans of The Elder Scrolls slam the release window of The Elder Scrolls VI.
We all know that Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI during E3 2018 and it would have been safe to assume that this next entry in the beloved fantasy RPG series would have been released within four years, as a worst-case scenario.
Alas, here we are seven years later and not only have we still not seen gameplay for The Elder Scrolls VI but we don’t have a release date, to the understandable frustration of fans.
I think itâs fair to say that when Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI, it came way too soon (giggidy). Itâs entirely likely that it will be a next-gen game at this point and with the power of hindsight, a 2025 announced would have fared much better.
Yet, understandably, despite having no concrete release date, The Elder Scrolls VI fans are questioning its suspected release window.
âIs the wait for TESVI still justifiable?â asked Reddit user Previous-Freedom2797. âSo with the general consensus being a 2028 release, weâre looking at about a 17-year wait between games.â Referring to the original release of Skyrim in 2011.
âI just want to remind people that 17 years is longer than the amount of time between Star Wars: Episode VI and Star Wars: Episode I,â said Dirtpileofdirt, hitting us with the home truth.
âHonestly, at this point, I don’t think it can fulfil the colossal expectations. Most likely nobody can,â replied Kintsugi-0. âThe amount of time and hype building up is absurd. Rockstar Games is maybe the exception.â
âThe bright side is that 17 years is too long for most people who were around for Skyrim to have strong opinions that matter,â claimed Theodoryan. âSo as long as it’s good, it could easily be more popular than Skyrim while disappointing all the old fans.â
I get what Theodoryan is trying to say, but trust me, a lot of original and passionate Skyrim fans will still be around with valid opinions about The Elder Scrolls VI. Hopefully, weâre not all actually dead by the time itâs released.
In the meantime, we can still enjoy the likes of Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls Online, all of which are included in an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
