Dune: Prophecy has managed to win over fans with one particular scene that Denis Villeneuve needs to echo in Dune: Messiah.

While Dune: Messiah is still some ways out, Dune: Prophecy is scratching the itch left behind by Denis Villeneuve’s already seminal duology of films. However, despite all the criticisms leveled at it, Dune: Prophecy might have outdone Denis Villeneuve’s films in one awesome way.

While shots that focused on space have been pretty limited in the Dune franchise so far, Prophecy did not pull any punches when it did indulge in one such scene. While the Spacing Guild has been largely absent from Denis Villeneuve’s version of the Dune, their works have found much praise for the way they were depicted in the spin-off show.

Fans are very taken by the space folding scene in the show

In the scene where Valia, Keiran, and Ynez arrive in Arrakis, their ship is seen exiting folded space, which has received a lot of praise from fans. The graphics of the scene are so well executed, that a lot of fans are happy to forgo the issues that the show has exhibited so far, taking to the internet to express how aesthetically pleasing the shot was.

While the director of the films has shied away from depicting the nitty gritties of space travel in his films, the show seemed to have gotten the hang of depicting space travel from Dune properly. Fans have gone so far as to compare it with the black hole scenes in Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed science fiction film.

Dune: Messiah is going to have to get creative with it’s story

Dune: Part Two left its characters in very different situations when compared to the book. Chani, for example, is utterly disillusioned with Paul and has struck out on her own. This already changes a lot of things for Dune: Messiah. Further, given that Anya Taylor-Joy is playing Paul’s sister, it might choose to extend the time between Paul taking the throne of the Known Universe and the opening scenes of Messiah.

This could further change some things about the narrative, which might have to either be radically fast-tracked or like its predecessor, split in two to accommodate all the changes that have been made to the source material. However, it is safe to say that Dune as an IP is in capable hands with Denis Villeneuve, who will exploit every loophole he can find to do the narrative justice.
