Former “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton recently shared an experience that left him feeling humiliated. Luckily, the incident prompted laughs and wasn’t as big a deal as Shelton may have initially worried.
Gwen Stefani’s Middle Son Accidentally Called Vince Gill From Blake Shelton’s Phone
On December 14, CMT shared a clip from their interview with Shelton on TikTok. In the short video, Shelton recalled the experience that left him rattled.
The story involved Shelton’s stepson Zuma, the middle son of his wife and fellow “The Voice” mentor Gwen Stefani.
“One day, he accidentally called Vince Gill on my phone. He FaceTimed him on accident. He thought he was calling his nanny Vince,” Shelton shared.
Shelton continued, “I remember I was walking through the house and I heard Vince Gill’s voice kind of laughing. And I looked and I saw Zuma throw the phone down.”
“He was like, ‘I don’t know, there was some man that answered Vince’s phone.’ And I looked and he had called Vince Gill.”
When Zuma, 16, made the call to the iconic country singer, Gill was out of the country. Shelton explained, “He was in Amsterdam, FacedTimed him in Amsterdam with the Eagles.”
As soon as he realized what happened, Shelton texted Gill. He shared that Gill called him and said Zuma’s call had him laughing. Shelton shared, “He said, ‘I thought you must have been drunk or something.’”
Zuma may have been horrified at the time, but Shelton revealed things have changed. “Now, a couple of years later, Zuma’s the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world. And he’s like, ‘Can we FaceTime him again?’”
Gill may have laughed over Zuma’s initial call, but Shelton isn’t interested in making it a regular thing. During the CMT interview, he said, “I’m like, ‘No, never again, actually. That was humiliating for me.’”
Fans Loved ‘The Voice’ Star’s Story
Fans on TikTok got a kick out of the story. Many of them commented with certainty that Gill was likely quite nice in handling Zuma’s accidental call.
“‘No, never again actually’ I love little reminders that these celebrities are just people too,” one fan commented.
“Vince is a very funny guy. I’m sure he loved it,” wrote another.
“What an awesome person to accidentally [FaceTime]. Zuma rocks,” read someone else’s comment.
A separate TikTok user shared, “Spoken like a loving father!”
“I can just see Vince Gill thinking that was awesome,” suggested another fan.
