Xbox fans, myself included, are furious at the decision to deny one of the most ambitious Halo crossovers ever for no discernible reason.
Halo is Xbox’s golden child, without it, the company probably wouldn’t be as “successful” as it is today.
You’d be forgiven for not knowing that by the way, as the past few years have made it abundantly clear Xbox and Microsoft couldn’t care less about Halo anymore, and frankly I think the best thing for it is to have it mercy-killed and rebooted. Luckily that seems to be what’s happening…
However in what could be the stupidest decision Microsoft has ever made, it’s come to light that one of the episodes pitched for the Amazon Prime Video show Secret Level would have seen Master Chief team up with the Doomslayer from Doom.
This is a crossover fans have begged for ever since Doom got rebooted in 2016, and we were so close to finally getting it.
The show’s creators Tim Miller and Dave Wilson said they’d appealed to Microsoft to let the episode become reality, to which Microsoft basically said “nah.”
Honestly, I can’t even fathom how you could say no to an idea as cool as Master Chief and Doomslayer fighting demons side-by-side.
I’m beyond annoyed that it didn’t get approved, and other Xbox fans are right there with me, thankfully.
“Saying no to the most metal crossover in the gaming history is insane” said one disgruntled fan, and another added that they’re “begging Microsoft to make ONE good decision.”
“Master Chief and Doom Slayer teaming up would’ve broken the universe.. in the best way. Microsoft clearly wasn’t ready for that level of chaos” said one more comment.
We were on the cusp of greatness, we were so close, but Microsoft deemed it not to be in an act I hope it’s severely regretting now.
