We live in an era of remakes and remasters, mostly due to the awesome power of modern consoles and PC hardware, allowing developers to revisit their older games and release them as they’d originally wanted to.
Ubisoft is one such developer who is happy to go back to their older games and gives us a polished version, especially when it comes to Assassin’s Creed.
Fans on Reddit are speculating whether Ubisoft will, one day, remake Assassin’s Creed 2 – easily the most popular release in the series.
In a pretty lengthy post, user iVirtualZero went into great detail on how it could look, with Ubisoft bringing the full trilogy to modern consoles.
The Redditor noted, “The Ezio Trilogy and remaking that is one hell of a job for Ubisoft,” saying that the games are so large, they’d have to remove the modern day story to pull off a remake.
Will the developer even want to bring that set of games to the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles?
“It does feel a bit inevitable now. AC2 was considered to be Ubisoft’s first “monster” game in terms of quantity of content, so there is enough there to re-create and improve without expanding the scope beyond the original’s ambitions,” said BrunoHM.
It seems that many in the fanbase are eager to see the idea become a reality.
“I’d love for them to do a faithful remake,” comments yeetskeetleet.
Another user is in full agreement, noting they’d like to see more than just Assassin’s Creed 2 – “
I’d love a remake from the ground up of 1,2, Brotherhood, and Revelations.”
There’s a lot of love for the Ezio trilogy due to the setting of Italy, and the plucky rebellion of the central character.
The whole trilogy has been remastered previously, but a full-on remake feels like a certainty for Ubisoft over the next few years.
