Tyreek Hill is at the center of NFL fan outrage amid an alarming decision over his future

Tyreek Hill is among the NFL‘s most decorated wide receivers, a reputation he has only enhanced since he joined the Miami Dolphins in 2022. Hill was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight NFL seasons, a period during which he won a Super Bowl title with the Kansas City Chiefs and recorded at least 1,200 receiving yards three times.

But team success has eluded Hill since the high-profile 2022 trade to Miami. His star has not necessarily waned, but Hill’s former teammates in Kansas City have since won two Super Bowls without him — and the Chiefs own the NFL’s best record this season at 15-1. Meanwhile, Hill’s Dolphins are in a fight just to make the playoffs amid a difficult and injury-plagued campaign.

Hill’s Pro Bowl snub slammed

Despite being among the NFL’s best and most recognizable receivers, Hill was not among the four AFC receivers selected to the Pro Bowl when the league announced the rosters on Thursday morning. The decision comes on the heels of a strange season for Hill — after leading all players with 1,799 receiving yards in 2023, the former Chiefs star has put up just 939 yards in 2024, with only six receiving touchdowns after hauling in 13 in 2023.

Baltimore Ravens receiver Zay Flowers was selected to his first Pro Bowl in Hill’s place after he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in his second NFL season — although he has caught only four touchdown passes from two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. And both Flowers and Hill compare unfavorably to Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Brian Thomas Jr, who was also left off the roster despite ranking fifth in the NFL in receiving yards (1,179) and touchdowns (10) on an underperforming team.

The Pro Bowl snub adds to what has been a difficult season for Hill, who was arrested for an alleged traffic violation shortly before the Dolphins’ Week 1 opener and has not been able to build on his chemistry with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on account of the signal-caller’s injuries. However, Miami (8-8) can still make the playoffs if they defeat the lowly New York Jets on Sunday and the Denver Broncos lose to the Chiefs, who are planning to rest stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
