Silo Season 2 has dropped its ninth episode, showcasing a guilt-ridden Bling embarking on a personal mission. He receives an exciting clue from Juliette, and the episode delivers a shocking revelation about the number of silos built by the founders. So, how many silos are there in Silo Season 2?
Here’s everything you need to know about this intriguing discovery in the dystopian drama series.
How many Silos were built by the founders before Silo Season 2?
The exact number of silos built by the founders remains unclear in Silo Season 2.
As fans know, the series is based on the novel trilogy by Hugh Howey. The books reveal that a total of 50 silos were built by the founders. However, things become a little confusing in the show’s ongoing second season.
Episode 9 of Silo Season 2, titled “The Safeguard,” begins with an intriguing revelation about the construction of the silos. Lukas is seen reading Quinn’s letter and learns that the founders created 50 silos. However, the show’s antagonist Bernard believes the total count is 51, possibly including Silo 1.
In the books, Silo 1 is presented as the central hub from which the founders of Operation Fifty monitor and control the other silos. They have the authority to ensure no rebellions occur in any of the silos. The founders can manipulate people during uprisings or even terminate an entire silo if things spiral out of control. If a silo is terminated, the Algorithm will try to replace it by selecting one of the remaining silos.
The series diverges from the books by mentioning an additional silo, suggesting a greater dominance by the founders. The Algorithm might not have the authority to terminate Silo 1.
