Elden Ring: Nightreign is currently one of the most anticipated games in the entire gaming space. It is a spin-off of the Elden Ring and features a multiplayer element to it where players will be able to team up with two others and defeat bosses.

The game was announced back in the Game Awards of 2024, and with a release date being just around the corner, fans are excited to know more about the game and its technicalities, so let’s delve deeper into those and remove any doubts that you might have.

Nightreign takes place on a procedurally generated version of Limgrave, which is known as Limveld, where teams of three players will collaborate together to fight mini bosses, survive the night, and in the end defeat the final boss.

Even though the game primarily focuses on multiplayer, where an internet connection is necessary, Bandai Namco has confirmed in their official Elden Ring: Nightreign Wiki that the game can be played offline without an internet connection.

The only caveat of playing the game offline is that you will have to play the entire title completely by yourself, which is not intended by the developers at all, considering the game is heavily focused on being cooperative with your team.

The developers have made it pretty clear that the game is meant to be played with your friends or two others, but that does not mean that you won’t be able to beat the game when playing solo.

The developers have accommodated the enemies for players who want to play solo by reducing their HP and damage, but it probably sort of puts the players at a disadvantage.

Considering how each session of the game takes 30-40 minutes, there won’t be anyone to take the aggro of the bosses or to help you when you’re down. So if you died after reaching the final boss, the runback will probably be the hardest part, and there are also death penalties.

Although the upcoming game sort of gives off the vibe that it will be a live-service game, worry not, dear Soulslike lovers, because the director of the game, Junya Ishizaki, has confirmed in an interview with PC Gamer that the game will be a complete package.

With Nightreign, we wanted to have a game that felt like a complete package out of the box on the day of purchase, so everything is unlockable, everything is contained with that purchase. It’s not what we’d consider a ‘live service’ game,

The game is flat out the full ensemble, so there is no battle pass or microtransactions of any kind. So you won’t have any in-game purchases or currencies that will help you win fights or revive you after you have died in the game.

While there is an in-game currency in Nightreign known as ‘Murk’ that is used to buy cosmetics and gestures, it is not purchasable using real money, and to earn ‘Murk’, you have to spend more time playing the game, rather than just buying them directly.
