Did this person die? Where was the extra money in the prize fund?

The whole plot of Squid Game is that 456 people enter the deadly games. As each player dies, the prize fund goes up until the final amount of 45.6billion won is given to the winner. So, if there were two players given the same number that would be a pretty big Squid Game error, wouldn’t it?

It turns out back in season one, this error happened. At the start of the show we were introduced to the first crop of 456 players for the games. But in the first episode, there were two players labelled “222”. So, were there actually 457 players? Was Gi-hun cheated out of some cash?

Remembering back, the Player 222 we followed for a bit of the show was in heavy debt, so she decided to enter Squid Game. She woke up in a room, alongside what should have been her 455 other players. She had her picture taken, and entered the main space where the players lived. But, there was another 222! A guy wearing a suit with the same number could be seen in the living room.

It seemed like initial Player 222 made it to the second game in Squid Game season one. However the guy was never seen again. How mysterious? How did Netflix not see this? “I’d like to think that 222 just morphed into a woman just cause…,” one person on a Squid Game fan page said.

Ironically, just before the second 222 is spotted, Gi-hun pointed out the board listing the number of players. “There are 456 of us here,” he said. But, there weren’t!

So basically, the fundamentals of the entire game in season one were flawed. Now I need to know if he lived or not, and if Gi-hun is owed a little extra cash for the death of an imposter player!
