While getting her start by winning season four of American Idol, Carrie Underwood went far beyond the show as she released nine studio albums and received a plethora of accolades including Grammys, Billboard Music Award, and American Music Awards. She even holds a Guinness World Record. Although a top name in the music industry, for any country singer, there is no greater honor than performing at the Grand Ole Opry. And always thrilled to perform on the sacred stage, Underwood recalled her Christmas performance of “Silent Night.”

With Christmas just around the corner, the holiday season is in full swing as families move to gather those last-minute gifts. But for Underwood, she decided to take a trip down memory lane as she returned to 2001 when she performed “Silent Night” at the Opry.


Per usual, Underwood’s flashback performance was applauded. “Such a great voice always, but it’s literal perfection whenever she sings for the Lord,” one fan wrote. Another added, “That voice!! just listen to your christmas album today. You and Isaiah singing together is my favorite!!”

Gaining thousands of likes, fans filled the comment section with love and praise. “I remember the first time I ever heard her sing she was audition for American idol and I told my family that she was going to be the winner for that season. I said I have never heard anyone sound that beautiful and smooth and voice that lovely and she still does.” Although another fan loved the performance, they asked for a duet between Underwood and Chris Stapleton, “So beautiful. I still want to hear a Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton duet. A slow song showing off vocals with an old school sound some steel guitar and fiddles. Or maybe even a Christmas duet somewhere down the line. I know the people want this duet!”

While enjoying the past, Underwood continues to perform as she currently holds a residency in Las Vegas. With the residency is expected to end in spring 2025, the singer told ABC News, “I feel like there was so much love and work and excitement that was poured into this show that, for me, I feel this will live in my mind, as, like one of the greatest shows we’ve ever put together, if not the greatest show we’ve put together.”

Thrilled over what she and her team accomplished, Underwood insisted, “It’s a really special show. I’m gonna miss it.”
