We’ve all known The Witcher IV is coming for some time, back since the game shifted into full production under the codename Polaris.
Last week, however, we got a lovely surprise of seeing a long cinematic for the game at The Game Awards and now, some fans believe we might be getting The Witcher IV sooner than we thought.
In a Reddit thread, folks are guessing as to when the game could see the light of day.
For a while now, many of us thought we might not see the game until around 2029, but some think it’s going to sneak in before that.
“They said in multiple Investors calls they wanted to do a shorter AD Campaign, that’s counting Reveal to Release. Cyberpunk’s was around 2 years, so Witcher’s should be around a year to two tops,” comments Virtual_Ad3302.
Another user sees it coming in 2027 based on previous comments from CD Projekt Red, “Ima say 2027 being the launch year with 2028 being the latest. I’ve heard that they want to do this whole saga in about 6 years.”
This was an idea pitched by CDPR some time ago, when the company was hoping to bring us this saga in a shorter time frame.
Whether that’s still the case, is difficult to say. Games obviously take much longer to craft nowadays.
Chalk another up for 2027 with this Redditor saying, “I’m gonna say 2027 is the safest bet, probably around May.
Given that we’ve only seen a cinematic trailer, the game could be two years off, or five years off, it’s impossible to say, right now.
The developer knows what they’re doing, but they won’t want to jump the gun after seeing the fallout of Cyberpunk 2077 and its disastrous launch.
For now, we should take all this discussion with a healthy does of salt and wait until official word comes down.
