Some theorized that children hadn’t been invented in the 15th century; others suggested all the kids had been sent to work in the mines. Whatever the reason, there are no children, and it has never been explained.

That was until a recent panel at Prague Comic-Con in which one of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s executive producers revealed all, and it all makes sense now.

First reported by CzechCrunch, during a Prague Comic-Con panel, in which he also shared that a mission to kidnap Vlad Dracula was cut from the game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s executive producer Martin Klíma revealed the reason for the game’s absence of children.

“This is where the production and ethical dimensions come together,” Klíma said. “We really wanted children in the game, and I think they are sorely lacking. Precisely because everyone there is the same size and similar. Children would break up the monotony well.”

The problem with adding children, is you’re then relying on players to be good people in-game, something which a large portion of the gaming world just wouldn’t be able to commit to.

“Adding children would increase the realism. But if you couldn’t attack them, it wouldn’t be such a realistic simulation. And if you could, you don’t want people making videos of them throwing another body on top of a pile of child corpses. You don’t want it as a PR problem, you don’t want it humanly either,” Klíma added.

Adding children to the game would have also added “another six months of work,” Klíma suggested, with children requiring new animations and models, rather than just being scaled-down versions of the game’s adults.
