Kicker David Akers has not played for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2010, 14 years ago. He spent the last three years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions from 2011 to 2013.
But on Sunday, during the matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles, Fox Sports broadcaster Tom Brady misspoke when talking about current Eagles kicker Jake Elliott by referring to the 29-year-old kicker as “Akers.”
Elliott has been with the Eagles for eight seasons. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft; however, they waived him at the start of the season, allowing Philadelphia to add him to their roster.
Fans commented negatively about Brady’s broadcasting and mistake on the call.
“I’m so serious get Tom Brady off any real broadcast team this guy is awful,” said one fan.
“If Tom Brady says ‘he’s a freak’ one more time during this broadcast I’m gonna lose it,” replied another fan.

“Listening to Brady. He keeps getting player timelines wrong. Said Akers earlier, now said he played against Mincah Fitspatrick earlier in ‘my’ career. Tom’s 2x his age. Maybe too many hits to the head???” a fan said.
“Brady is an idiot for calling Elliott Akers,” a fan commented.
Elliott converted the 41-yard field goal attempt that drew the incorrect call from Brady, increasing the Eagles lead to 20-13.
Eagles eventually won the game, 27-13.
