How the “Tom Brady of Package Thieves” Was Finally Taken Down in Boston

Kerri Flynn, 34, had allegedly been seen stealing packages in the area for weeks, prompting neighbors to assign her the Brady moniker.

An eagle-eyed Boston police cadet delivering toys on Christmas Eve helped nab an alleged porch pirate notorious among South Boston neighbors as the “Tom Brady of stealing packages,” authorities said.

Officers were delivering toys to children in South Boston around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when the cadet spotted 34-year-old Kerri Flynn, “a suspected package thief whose escapades had earned her notoriety among concerned locals,” the Boston Police Department said in a statement.

According to a police report, Flynn — a South Boston resident — had allegedly been seen stealing packages in the area for weeks, prompting neighbors to assign her the Tom Brady moniker. Flynn purportedly had two bags of unopened packages on her when officers stopped her, and Boston police said she told the officers she was out of work and had a daughter.

Police also learned Flynn had two outstanding warrants out of Taunton District Court and Suffolk Superior Court on charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property, respectively.

She was arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court’s South Boston division Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property. Court records indicate Flynn was released on personal recognizance but was due to be transported to Suffolk Superior Court on one of her outstanding warrants. Her lawyer did not return a call seeking comment Thursday.

According to the Boston police report, the recovered packages will be delivered to their intended recipients.
