Jeff Goldblum and Reba McEntire Hilariously Take on Gen Alpha Slang in Exclusive ‘Toast to 2024!’

‘I think I’m Gen Alpha. I think I just made the cut,’ Goldblum jokes in an exclusive clip of NBC’s ‘A Toast to 2024!’ hosted by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

Even celebrities like Jeff Goldblum and Reba McEntire have trouble keeping up with modern day lingo, but that doesn’t mean they don’t try! The pair—along with a slew of other famous faces—take their best guesses as to what common Gen Alpha phrases mean in an exclusive clip of NBC’s A Toast to 2024! hosted by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

“I think I’m Gen Alpha. I think I just made the cut,” Goldblum, 72, jokes before the camera cuts to Dateline‘s Keith Morrison and Josh Mankiewicz, who take their best guesses as to what “rizz” means.

“I’d say it probably means ‘charisma,'” Morrison, 77, says, to which Mankiewicz, 69, adds, “Oh, that’s good! It does.”

Today‘s Craig Melvin also admitted that he knows “about the rizz,” sharing a story about an intern who used the term to describe him.

“One of the interns was like, ‘You know Mr. Melvin, you got some rizz,'” he recalls. “I was like, ‘Thank you!’ Then I had to go ask another intern, ‘What’s rizz?'”

McEntire, 69, and Melissa Peterman—both of who co-starred on Reba together and currently star on NBC’s new sitcom, Happy’s Place—also took a stab at guessing the meaning of one of Gen Alpha’s most popular phrases: “ate.”

“Right after seven,” McEntire hilariously quips to Peterman, 53, who later explains that “ate” is “high praise or admiration,” adding, “Like, ‘Oh, girl. You just ate that!”
