The Witcher Sirens of the Deep

A new hunt begins this February. Netflix has released a brand-new trailer for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, starring Doug Cockle as Geralt of Rivia.

Per a press release, Netflix uploaded a new trailer for The Witcher anime movie ahead of its official release on Feb. 11, 2025. The adult animated movie follows Geralt and the comical Jaskier as they become entangled in an age-old war between man and merman following a mysterious attack on a seaside village. However, one party seems eager to ignite the flames of war between both kingdoms, regardless of the lives that would be lost.

Netflix Reveals First Full Trailer for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

The new Netflix trailer for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep highlights the brutal, accelerating action fans can expect from the upcoming animated movie. It also highlights Cockle’s brilliant vocals as he reprises his iconic role as the witcher for Netflix. From 2007 to 2015, Cockle played Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher trilogy games by Polish video game developer CD Projekt. Witcher actor Joey Batey reprises his role of Jaskier from the TV show for the animated movie, along with Anya Chalotra, the live-action actor of Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Sirens of the Deep is based on a short story by Andrzej Sapkowski, the Polish fantasy writer behind The Witcher novels. The Netflix movie is greatly inspired by “A Little Sacrifice,” which is featured in Sword of Destiny, the second short story collection of The Witcher book series. Sapkowski is also credited as a creative consultant for the film. Kang Hei Chul, who directed The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, returns for Sirens of the Deep. Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin are the writers for the animated movie. Both worked on the live-action Netflix series. Sirens of the Deep takes place between Episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher Season 1.

“Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople,” the official description of Sirens of the Deep reads. “He must count on friends — old and new — to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into an all-out war.”

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is just one of many animated projects Netflix has in store for anime and video game fans in 2025. Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne will be released on Jan. 16, 2025. Sakamoto Days, the popular Shonen Jump action series that mixes John Wick with Spy x Family, recently premiered on Jan. 11 and will continue to air one new episode per week every Saturday. An anime TV adaptation of Capcom’s Devil May Cry will also be released in 2025. Adi Shankar, the Indian-American film producer behind Castlevania and Castlevania: Nocturne, is also involved with Devil May Cry.
