Sofronio Vasquez Can’t Contain His Excitement Meeting Kelly Clarkson Post-‘The Voice’ Triumph!

There are lots of perks that come with winning a contest show like The Voice. The high-profile exposure, the chance to work with established artists, and the opportunity to sing in front of millions of people watching at home are just a few of the benefits. For Sofronio Vasquez, who triumphed in just-concluded season 26, one of the best advantages was meeting Kelly Clarkson, the first winner of American Idol. He was bowled over, to say the least. Watching Vasquez practically swoon as he spoke to Clarkson on her TV show a few days ago was really endearing.

Sofronio Vasquez Just Loved Meeting Kelly Clarkson

Their Chat Was Sweet

Per American Songwriter, “…[T]he 32-year-old former dental student became the first Filipino winner of The Voice on Dec. 10. And recently, Vasquez had another ‘pinch-me’ moment when he appeared via Zoom on The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Per the outlet, Clarkson is singing competition show royalty. Not only did she win the first season of Idol, she also spent nine seasons coaching contestants on The Voice, winning four times, per nbc.com. Pretty impressive!

When Vasquez began talking to Clarkson, he blurted out in true fanboy style, “Oh my gosh, is this real?”

He still seemed a little jittery as she questioned him about being the first Filipino to win The Voice. Vasquez shyly replied, “I don’t know what to say, but yeah, I’m the first Filipino winner of The Voice.”

Kelly Clarkson Wanted To Know About Michael Buble’s Skill As A Coach On ‘The Voice’

Vasquez Praised Buble Warmly

She asked Vasquez, “Wait, how is Michael Bublé as a coach? Be real.”

“If I’m going to be real, he’s very cool and he’s so funny,” was his polite comeback to her.

Vasquez thought that Buble was a regular guy, a nice attribute to have. He added, “He even always played hockey with us. And it’s really weird because it’s not The Voice, it’s not part of The Voice, but he was like, ‘Do you know how to play hockey?'”

Clarkson answered, “He’s, like, super Canadian.”

We wish Sofronio Vasquez the best as he embarks on his singing career, post-The Voice.
