Country music legend Reba McEntire and Christian artist Lauren Daigle released a duet of McEntire’s “Back to God” in 2017, and the song continues to offer hope today.
Reba previously shared about the song in a discussion with Rolling Stone.
“I had to make it different because [Houser’s version] was so good,” she told Rolling Stone. “So we got it on there, but it’s a great song! Everybody was saying, ‘Oh my gosh, we need this, we need this song right now.’ Well, we’ve always needed this song.”
We’ve needed this song indeed. The chorus tells of the world’s need for faith in God:
You gotta get down on your knees
Believe, fold your hands, and beg and plead
Gotta keep on praying
You gotta cry, rain, tears of pain
Pound the floor, and scream His name
‘Cause we’re still worth saving
Can’t go on like this, and live like this
We can’t love like this
We gotta give this world
Back to God
The vocalist performed the song as a duet with Daigle at the 2017 ACM Awards.
“I think this album really helped…keep me busy on something that is good and positive and healing, which music is,” McEntire said of her 20-track gospel album. “These songs of faith and hope, that’s what you gotta have when you’re going through bad times—and good times. You gotta have faith and hope to carry you through each day.”
“I am kind of like cleaning out the closet. I am really focusing on the things I really want to do and giving it my undivided attention, and that way, everything’s not so watered down,” she previously said. “But the thing that is very important is to really cherish the day. Because the day that God made, it’s a great day.”
Movieguide® previously reported on McEntire:
Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman are reuniting for a new sitcom.
The pair previously starred in REBA together. Now, they are set to work alongside each other in a still-unnamed NBC pilot.
“The pilot follows Bobbie (McEntire) who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” Deadline reported. “Peterman will portray Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the tavern for quite some time. She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.”
