From one great to tight end to another. That could be one way to describe the success the Kansas City Chiefs have had at the position since the over the past 25 years.

The culmination of that success came full circle on Wednesday, when Travis Kelce caught his 77th touchdown pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers, surpassing Tony Gonzalez’s franchise record.

And how did Kelce celebrate the achievement?

None other than the Gonzalez’s signature touchdown celebration of dunking the football over the crossbar.

Gonzalez congratulated Kelce on Twitter and gave props to Kelce for the celebration.

While the dunk resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and likely a fine, it was well worth it for Kelce as Gonzalez said he’d take care of the charge.

“You know I had to show love to the greatest of all time!! you did mention you’d help me with the fine tho,” Kelce said in response to Gonzalez’s congratulatory tweet.

“lol! I got you!” Gonzalez tweeted back to Kelce.

That wasn’t the only milestone Kelce accomplished during the game. He became the fastest and third tight end to reach 1,000 receptions and the only player in NFL history with seven consecutive seasons with at least 90 receptions.

To make things even better for Kelce, The Chiefs defeated the Steelers 29-10 to move to 15-1 and clinch the first seed in the AFC with a week left to play.

With Kelce unlikely to play in the regular season finale, he would finish with 97 receptions, 823 yards and three touchdowns.
