Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has been in his fair share of star-studded parties with his girlfriend Taylor Swift in more than a year that they have been dating. During that span, the three-time Super Bowl champion also had the chance to meet all sorts of big-name celebrities at a number of Hollywood gatherings.
This was exactly the case during a high-profile Oscars afterparty in March. It was pop icon Madonna who hosted the event, and Kelce and Swift were just two of the big-time celebrities who were in attendance.
Another guest at the party was comedian Billy Eichner, who recently revealed his hilarious encounter with Kelce during the said party.
“… So I turn around, and I feel this pat on my back, and I turn around and it’s Travis Kelce.”

Eichner, 46, then laid out the premise of his story by explaining that he’s been hosting a show called “Billy on the Street” for many years. He then went on to reveal Kelce’s embarrassing mistake.
“In a very loud, booming voice in a house full of the most famous people in the world, Travis Kelce looks at me and goes, ‘Jimmy on the (expletive) Street! I love you, man,”‘ Eichner said.
“… This literally happened, and he’s beaming. He’s so happy to see me. And it’s Travis Kelce, who I’m not expecting would know who I am at all.”
Eichner stated that as much as he may have wanted to, he just didn’t find it in himself to point out Kelce’s blunder.
“He said it with such confidence that I could not bring myself to correct him,” Eichner continued. “He looked so happy to see me. I could tell he was a fan, but He’s Travis Kelce, he’s huge. He’s standing there with Taylor Swift, you know. I didn’t know what to do.”
Eichner, who plays the role of Timon in the upcoming Disney live-action film “Mufasa,” even verified with Kimmel if he had spoken to Kelce that night, which is what may have caused the mix-up with their names. The host confirmed, though, that he did not speak with Kelce at all that evening.
It was not Kelce’s best moment, and he probably would have been more embarrassed if Eichner had corrected him in front of all those celebrities.
All is well that ends well, though, and the incident has become one of those stories that everyone is able to laugh about in hindsight.
