But in 2024, they look set to miss the playoffs while currently having a 6-8 record, with Hill having a surprising fall-off with just 805 receiving yards in 14 games. After another defeat this past weekend in which Hill struggled to contribute, with just 36 games in the game, he posted a cryptic message on X, writing: “It’s time for me to go coach,” before following that up with “I might bet my first grey hair this year.” Many have thought this to be Hill contemplating retirement, which would seem premature for him to do so at the age of 30 – but it’s something that he’s openly spoken of before. Here, Mirror US Sports has assessed Hill’s three options that he’ll have to consider this offseason with just one year left on his contract.Retirement Tyreek Hill’s performances has dropped since last season ( Image: Getty)As mentioned above, Hill retiring from the NFL after one down season would feel incredibly premature. We are just one year removed from the explosive playmaker having one of the best seasons in NFL history by a receiver, posting 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns – while missing a game through injury. He might have lost a step of speed, but Hill remains one of the premiere deep threats in the NFL, while still being an incredible route-runner and certainly being the number one option on almost every team in the league. However, the idea of him retiring early should not remotely shock fans… it’s something that he’s long considered. In 2023, Hill told fans he wanted to play 10 years and then walk away from the game. Currently in his ninth season, Hill has one more year left on his contract, but could choose to retire if he feels he cannot perform on the level we’ve been accustomed to seeing him at.Following Mike McDaniel Mike McDaniel has truly got the best out of Tyreek Hill ( Image: Getty Images)While Mike McDaniel has been one of the most innovative playcallers in the NFL over the past three years, Dolphins fans have grown incredibly frustrated with the head coach over the past 12 months.Somewhat shockingly, McDaniel has just a 3-15 record when his Dolphins team has faced an opponent with a record above .500, showing that they’ve greatly benefitted from playing struggling teams in their regular season triumphs in 2022 and 2023.Should McDaniel become available, it’s likely he’s strongly considered for roles to be available, including the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders… or even the Dallas Cowboys. But Hill isn’t likely to have interest in joining a rebuilding team for the final season of his career. However, should McDaniel instead opt for an offensive coordinator role, look out for the likes of the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks to have strong interest – both almost certain to be looking for a new playcaller, who will have full control of the offense. Hill would need to request a trade if he is to leave Miami and has interest in following McDaniel, with the playcaller knowing exactly how to get the best out of his talents.Sticking with the DolphinsHill remains an incredible go-to option for Tua Tagovailoa ( Image: Getty)Don’t MissHill has a close relationship with Tua Tagovailoa, and it’s unlikely that he’ll want to leave the team this way, with his quarterback missing several weeks after suffering a concussion – which has ultimately played a role in the wide receiver’s lack of production. The Dolphins are unlikely to be Super Bowl contenders next season, but Hill might feel that with he and his quarterback healthy, they’ll be in with a chance – while wanting to end his career on a high in the city he’s spoken so highly of.
