Here’s a release date revelation for The Elder Scrolls VI that we wish we’d never known but here it is anyway.
When it comes to agonising release dates in the video game industry, it doesn’t get much more tormenting than The Elder Scrolls VI. That being said, I can hear Duke Nukem Forever and Beyond Good and Evil 2 shout “Hold my beer” from across the bar room.
By now we’re all aware that The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018, an announcement so old that E3 doesn’t even exist anymore. In its place is Summer Game Fest and by the time SGF 2025 arrives in June, Bethesda’s announcement will be seven years old.
Furthermore, assuming that The Elder Scrolls VI will be a no-show at Summer Game Fest 2025, it means that we’ll still have no idea when the fantasy RPG will be released. The likelihood is, we’d be waiting at least a couple more years from then, if we’re lucky.
At this point, it might be safe to assume that Bethesda chief Todd Howard is never going to give us that elusive release date and gameplay trailer for the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series. So when (or if), that reveal is made, we’ll all be pleasantly surprised.
To shed further light on just how long we’ve been waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI, Reddit user smackler88 says “Morrowind is closer to Skyrim than The Elder Scrolls VI is at this point. That is all.”
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released in 2002 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in 2011, a gap of nine years. Whereas, The Elder Scrolls VI, which as we’ve already mentioned, does not have a release date is currently 13 years (and counting) after Skyrim.
You’re welcome.
