In the final episode of Virgin River season 6, Brie came clean about her affair with Brady, but somehow, Mike already knew. Virgin River season 6 was released exclusively on Netflix on December 19th, 2024, and the season was chock-full of shocking twists. In addition to revealing what happened with Preacher’s murder trial, the Virgin River season 6 finale cliffhanger left audiences anxious about the fate of one major character in particular.

Yet another major plot point in the finale involved the increasingly complicated love triangle between Brie, Brady, and Mike. During season 6, Brie and Brady slept with one another, despite both of them being in a relationship with other people at the time. Shockingly, Mike still proposed to Brie even though he knew what had happened between Brie and Brady (before Brie confessed). The question remains: how did Mike already know that Brady and Brie had slept together?

Brie May Have Confirmed Mike’s Suspicions

Toward the end of the season 6 finale, Mike proposes to Brie, who then immediately comes clean about her fling with Brady. Surprisingly, Mike responds, “I know,” revealing he already had some inclination that Brie and Brady had crossed the line, and he was proposing anyway. The scene concludes before Mike explains how exactly he knew this had happened, though.

In all likelihood, Mike simply had a gut feeling that Brie and Brady slept together. The two haven’t exactly been great about concealing their continued feelings for one another, so it would be reasonable for Mike to have carried some degree of suspicion all along. It’s possible but much less likely that someone told Mike. Brady telling anyone seems next to impossible, and although Brie told Jack, Mel, and Kaia, it would be very odd if one of them told Mike. After all, Jack hadn’t even told Mel.

In all likelihood, Mike simply had a gut feeling that Brie and Brady slept together.

Given that, it’s quite possible that Mike said “I know” when saying he suspected as much would have been closer to the truth. If that were the case, Brie would have confirmed Mike’s fears, which would explain why he accepted what she said so quickly. Mike feeling suspicious rather than somehow knowing for certain would make a lot more sense.

Mike Likely Believes This Was A One-Time Mistake

Perhaps the most shocking aspect of this conversation is the fact that Mike still proposes to Brie even though she only recently cheated on him. Presumably, Mike believes that Brie sleeping with Brady was just a one-time mistake that she regrets. That’s still rather confusing though, as Mike decided to propose before Brie had said any such thing. One would think that Mike would want to hear Brie say those things (of her own accord) before he was willing to make a commitment of this magnitude.

With Virgin River season 7 already confirmed, these answers will no doubt be coming soon. It will be interesting to see whether Mike was correct, and Brie regrets what she did with Brady and doesn’t really love him, or if Mike miscalculated and Brie and Brady will end up together after all. In either case, hopefully the next season of Virgin River will confirm precisely how Mike already knew that Brady and Brie had slept together.
