Blake Lively’s past comments on acting are resurfacing, sparking controversy and convincing fans she doesn’t understand the craft.

Instead of dying down with the gradual passage of time, the controversies surrounding Blake Lively seem to continue to grow with each passing day. For one, besides everything already currently surrounding her amidst her ongoing lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, now even her past comments are surfacing to push her further into the fire.

One of these very comments includes what she said when she was busy promoting her recent cash cow It Ends with Us, where she made a rather bizarre comment about acting in the movie. In fact, what she said is being seen in even more of a controversial light now than ever before as it convinces fans that she doesn’t quite seem to know what acting really is.

While It Ends with Us turned out to be the very movie that would kickstart her drowning in controversies due to her current and past actions, one of the statements Blake Lively made while promoting the movie is now convincing fans that she might as well not know the true meaning of acting and preparing yourself to step into your respective character for the stage/screens.

This happened during her interview with Capital FM, when she was asked to address how her husband Ryan Reynolds contributed to the film, to which she explained he did so by modifying the famous rooftop scene “99%.” While she admitted that the screenplay written by Chrissy Hall was iconic too, at the same time, Lively also emphasized why she felt this change was necessary.

Proving to fans she ostensibly doesn’t know the true meaning of acting, the Gossip Girl star said:

I mean, Chrissy Hall wrote an incredible screenplay. It was one of the reasons that I wanted to do this film. But also there are natural tweaks and modifications that come in when the actor is hired and you’re trying to infuse your own personality and your own authenticity.

Adding to this, she then further went on to emphasize her point of Reynolds‘ significant modification of the scene per Lively’s persona, saying, “To me, it was just that movies have to live and breathe. Gus Van Sant said to a friend of mine, ‘Movies will speak to you, listen to them.’ And the best directors, the best storytellers do, they listen, so it’s always sort of a fluid process.”

Of course, one of the most important things that sets actors apart from the onscreen icons and characters is the fact that those characters are real to the core while those actors mold themselves into their respective characters to depict them accurately in their story. And judging from Lively’s words, it’s clear she has her perspectives painted in a much different light.

On the one hand, while Blake Lively’s words in that interview with Capital FM say something, on the other hand, @truthorlie.ai on Instagram seems to point out that there isn’t much truth to the actress’ claims. Per the analysis, her claims about Reynolds writing that scene and the necessity for modification of a character’s arc per the actor were all reported lies.

Although this meter isn’t 100% accurate, it did find potential deception in Lively’s words while also pointing out that she was telling the truth about the best directors and best storytellers always listening part. Since then, fans have been sharing some of the most fed-up comments with the actress as well, as is especially evident from the comment section of the Instagram post:

The fact that she has to “infuse her own personality” into an already established character just plays into how she is not a great actress, because she can only play roles that feel like herself she can’t play the role of another person. The character has to bend to her, not the other way around. Which defeats the purpose of acting as said character lol. Makes sense though since she’s so out of touch

The more she speaks on acting I genuinely can’t help but think does she understand what acting is…? Because acting is the opposite of what she says she constantly does. In several interviews now I keep hearing her say “I had to infuse my own personality” “I had to find a way to make it my own” etc. Does she understand you’re supposed to take on the role of the person she’s pretending to be, opposed to putting part of yourself in that character. That is ridiculous! And just asinine behavior

All in all, it’s unarguable that Blake Lively’s words have come back to haunt her, and fans are calling her out for not grasping the fundamentals of acting. As the controversy surrounding her comments grows, Lively’s reputation in Hollywood continues to take a hit. With her lawsuit with Justin Baldoni still ongoing, Lively’s future in the entertainment industry remains uncertain.

Amidst it all, one thing is inevitably clear: Lively needs to rethink her approach to acting and public speaking if she wants to regain the trust of her fans. As for her career and current reputation and position in Hollywood? Well, only time can tell how much longer it will be before it all ostensibly comes crashing down for her.
