Marvel has about a million irons in the fire, with a range of films and TV shows cooking along to finish up the multiverse saga and lead us into the future of the MCU.

However, over the past few years, Marvel has been in the habit of announcing things willy-nilly, trying to take advantage of the momentum they’ve built.

It’s no surprise that the studio is now cutting back on those projects previously announced and, according to Culture Crave, over on BlueSky, three projects have been shelved.

The upcoming Nova TV show, which would have explored the titular hero and more space-based shenanigans, is now canned.

On top of this, the Doctor Strange led spin-off, Strange Academy, is also dead in the water.

This one is a real shame, as it would have focused on more magic-wielding heroes, and expanded the story of America Chavez.

Lastly, Terror Inc. has also been cancelled – a show that would have leaned into the horror aspects of the Marvel universe.

While it’s understandable that Marvel can’t oversee so many shows and films, this is very disappointing.

All three of these shows would have focused less on the traditional superheroes we’ve been inundated with over the years, and taken us to new corners of the MCU.

Of course, on the flip side, this is hopefully a sign that Disney and Marvel are looking at quality over quantity, and rather than bombarding us with a bunch of projects, they’re going to hone in on great stories again.

Perhaps the studio will drop some of these characters into the wider film projects – it would be great to drop Nova into Avengers: Secret Wars, in much the same way Spider-Man appeared in Captain America: Civil War.

For now, we’ll mourn these shows and hope for something else to emerge over the coming years.
