The future of the MCU hangs in the balance as Doctor Doom steps up as the next ‘big bad’ of the franchise, and fans are wondering which of the many heroes will face off against the threat.

Given we still have myriad familiar faces hanging around the MCU, it won’t come as a surprise to see plenty of cameos from previous Marvel legends.

One such hero is Star Lord, leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who we last saw in the third film in the series back in 2023.

That film was a fitting send off for the team, however, fans will always want to see those characters back on the screen fighting evil.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Pratt has revisited the idea of playing Star Lord again.

Back when he was doing promotional tours for The Garfield Movie, Pratt did say, “Well, it probably makes more sense that I would be Star Lord again.”

Now, he’s doubling down on this, by saying to Kimmel, “There was a promise that [The Legendary Star-Lord] would return… we will make good on that promise!”

Who knows if this means Star Lord will return in Avengers: DOOMSDAY, or in the more likely Avengers: Secret Wars, which will likely be an ensemble similar to Avengers: Endgame.

At least he is returning, and will likely bring a few friends along with him.

Of course, until promotion starts for the Avengers duology, we have no idea who will appear, or even survive the battle with Doctor Doom.

It should be noted, that while this response was made regarding Avengers: DOOMSDAY, Pratt could be simply hinting that Star Lord will return in some other form.

Perhaps a solo movie, or simply as a cameo elsewhere in the MCU.
