A surprise reveal has the gaming world buzzing: a brand-new RPG that blends the gritty freedom of GTA with the neon-drenched future of Cyberpunk — and it might just be the most ambitious game we’ve seen in years.

Hyper-realistic cityscapes. Criminal factions. Custom cyber-enhancements. And no, it’s not from Rockstar or CD Projekt Red…

GTA 6 and Cyberpunk 2077 fans may feel right at home with this stunning upcoming game from Hotta Studio.

Neverness to Everness is a gacha game that blends the open world chaos of GTA with the futuristic metropolis setting of Cyberpunk 2077.

It’s been on gacha fans’ watchlists for just under a year now since it was initially revealed in July last year, with many calling it “anime GTA” after gameplay showed characters stealing cars and driving them through futuristic city streets.

It appears that Neverness to Everness also features a GTA-style wanted system, where stealing cars or committing other crimes can bring down the full force of the police on your tail.

Some gameplay was shown in the latest video released by Hotta Studio. About halfway through the video, the developer starts discussing a gameplay mechanic which it calls the “punishment system”.

The punishment system essentially acts like GTA’s wanted levels, where stealing vehicles and attacking civilians increases the police response severity. The punishment level seems to go up to three stars, with more cars and even drones eventually giving chase.

In addition to this, the game also features vehicle customisation and upgrades, and also allows you to run your own business and earn money. It should be a great thing to hold us over until GTA 6 releases in May next year.

Neverness to Everness entered its first closed beta on 28th November, 2024, and is gearing up for another closed beta test on 3rd July (next Thursday).

Hotta is planning to release the game on PC, PS5, iOS and Android, as is usually the case with gacha games.

An Xbox and Switch 2 release could be considered further down the road, depending on how well the initial release goes.

It doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’ll probably learn more once the next closed beta test has run its course.
