The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent is yet again another excellent Nic Cage performance in an offbeat comedy movie. Although in recent years Cage has primarily done horror movies and thrillers, he has historically been outstanding in comedy films and high-concept independent works. Even though audiences don’t get to see Cage in many straight-up comedies very often these days, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is fantastic and really highlights how great Cage still is in the genre.

Several of Nic Cage’s best movies belong to the comedy genre. One of Cage’s earliest breakout roles was in the Coen Brothers’ slapstick crime comedy Raising Arizona (1987), which remains a classic film for both Cage and the directing duo. He was also great in the 2010 dark superhero comedy Kick-Ass and another dark crime comedy Red Rock West (1993). Perhaps Cage’s best comedy film of all is Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman’s Adaptation. (2002), in which Cage plays an exaggerated version of Kaufman as well as Kaufman’s fictional twin brother, Donald.

The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent Is Nicolas Cage’s Highest-Rated Comedy Movie In Over 20 Years

It’s just as good if not better than the 2002 Oscar winner Adaptation

When not including horror/comedy blends like Dream ScenarioThe Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent is Cage’s highest-rated comedy since the era of Matchstick Men and Adaptation. The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent ranks just as high if not higher than Cage’s early comedies, such as MoonstruckRaising Arizona, and Vampire’s Kiss. There’s no question that Cage has one of the widest ranges of any leading actor in Hollywood, which The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent still proves to this day with its January 2025 Netflix release.
