Last night, someone at Ubisoft woke up and chose violence.

After almost two years of Assassin’s Creed Shadows-related abuse, whoever runs the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account decided to pop off… and two of the most abhorrent people (if you can call them that) alive today were their targets: Elon Musk and Mark “Grummz” Kern.

It all started with this Tweet from Grummz: “You can tell a lot about Ubisoft @Ubisoft with how much money they are throwing at terrorist-platforming streamers.”

The “terrorist-platforming” streamer he’s referring to is Hasan Piker, who has recently been playing through Assassin’s Creed Shadows during sponsored streams Twitch.

Assumedly, the “terrorist” comment relates to Piker’s stance on the Gaza war, as he’s not shy about criticising the Israeli government.

This is the point that Elon Musk decided to pipe up.

“Hasan is a fraud… “Sell-out” would be more accurate. Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money,” Musk replied.

Now, I don’t know who runs the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account. I don’t know if it’s just one poor social media intern or if this reply was workshopped through a board of directors, but frankly, I don’t care– they deserve a raise regardless.

“Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?” Assassin’s Creed stated in reply to Musk’s comment.

Now, firstly, incredible ratio. Elon Musk paid over 40 billion dollars to own Twitter, only for his 22k likes comment to get absolutely dogwalked by a Ubisoft PR employee with 410k.

Secondly, if you’re confused about the context, here’s the short of it. Earlier this year, Musk decided to brag about and show off his Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 accounts. He even showed off the fact that he was ranked in the top 20 Diablo 4 players in the world.

Yeah, turns out he was paying people to boost these accounts for him. We know that because, after weeks of scrutiny and an embarrassing Path of Exile 2 stream where he didn’t actually seem to understand how to play the game, he finally outright admitted this.

Following this, Mark “Grummz” Kern stepped in to defend his waifu Elon Musk with a screenshot of an article criticising Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ sales numbers. Again, Ubisoft’s clap back was straightforward and savage: “Our game is out.”

In case you don’t know who Grummz is, good for you. Here’s the short of it: he was fired from Blizzard in 2005, fell down the Gamergate, anti-DEI, anti-woke pipeline, and then founded a studio called Red 5 Studios soon after.

Red 5 produced one game, Firefall. It was an abysmal failure and closed down after three years. In 2016, he began crowdfunding for a new game that’s a spiritual successor to Firefall called Em-8er.

Well, it’s 2025 and Em-8er’s release date is nowhere in sight. Someone at Ubisoft had clearly done their homework.
