A fan theory claims that Super Earth is going to lose the Second Galactic War, despite all the efforts that the Helldivers 2 community is making.

The Helldivers 2 community is fighting hard against Terminids, Automatons, and Illuminates to grab an upper hand in the Second Galactic War, however, fans believe that Arrowhead Game Studios is dropping signs that Super Earth is going to lose this fight. Things took a major turn during the Galactic War when Illuminate showed up and it’s no secret that players have been struggling to defeat these new enemies.

It is a well-established fact that Super Earth’s brave soldiers are not ready to give up. However, a player believes that the position and condition of Super Earth’s flag in the game’s artwork hints that Super Earth will face a major setback soon. If this theory turns out to be true, it seems like Arrowhead is heading down a completely different path, setting up an unpredictable lore.

A Helldivers 2 player on the r/Helldivers subreddit has claimed that Arrowhead Game Studios may have dropped some hints about the outcome of the Second Galactic War and if this theory is true then things are not looking good for Super Earth as they might lose the war.

The player compared the artwork of the Escalation of Freedom and Omens of Tyranny updates with the artwork that was made for the base game. The player strongly believes that the placement of the flag and how it gradually wears out in the Omens of Tyranny update artwork tells that Helldivers are now “fighting a losing war.” To an extent, this theory seems valid because the soldiers in the Omens of Tyranny update artwork indeed look exhausted.

The rest of the community believes that this might happen, but in the end, Super Earth will win the battle. Unfortunately, players will have to wait for the next update’s artwork to know if this theory is actually true.

Super Earth’s defeat might be good for humanity

Obviously, everyone wants Super Earth to win the battle but it may not be the best outcome as Super Earth is the “evil side,” and no, this is not a theory, this was actually subtly confirmed by Arrowhead’s CCO, Johan Pilestedt, during the Nordic Game conference in Sweden.

Pilestedt explained that Helldivers 2 was planned to be “a co-op action shooter where players are put in the shoes of the ‘evil side’ grunts of pop culture,” making it clear that players are on the evil side. This statement unlocks a new perspective as all the enemy factions are just trying to defend themselves against Super Earth, who has been exploiting them for their resources.

Hence, if Super Earth loses this war, don’t worry, it is for the good.
