Vernon and Petunia Dursley are pretty wicked folk, but they are not complicit in Voldemort’s tirade against the Wizarding World.

There are plenty of people who had to be tried and punished following Harry Potter’s defeat of the Dark Lord, with many Death Eaters sent to Azkaban.

That’s not the case for all involved though, with Harry Potter fans recently discovering that Lucius Malfoy got off rather lightly despite a rather stark string of crimes.

Malfoy is a eugenicist, complicit in Voldemort’s quest for ‘pureblood’ supremacy.

He’s cruel to his house elf Dobby, and assists in unleashing the basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets – and yet all he received was a slap on the wrist.

But what befell the aforementioned Dursleys? Their treatment of Harry surely counts as neglect, but would this concern ‘muggle’ authorities more so than the Ministry of Magic?

Well, the fate of the young Dudley Dursley was touched upon by franchise author JK Rowling at at Q&A event, as reported by the Harry Potter Wiki.

It’s said that, as adults, Harry and Dudley reconciled, remaining on “Christmas card terms” and occasionally visiting one another.

Apparently, Dudley went on to have several children so Harry would take his own along.

As for Vernon and Petunia though, there’s a lot less information on that front.

Petunia reportedly died sometime before 2020, with Dudley likely filling Harry in on the news suggesting that Harry had cut ties with his guardians.

As for whether any kind of justice was enacted for their treatment of Harry, whether that be via normal or magical authorities, remains unclear.

It does appear that just like Malfoy, the Dudleys may have gotten off far too lightly as well.

For a story about good and evil, Harry Potter certainly features its fair share of injustices.
